The Yamuna River in Delhi is flowing above its warning level for the second straight day, posing a potential flood risk. On Monday morning, water levels reached 204.80 meters at the Old Railway Bridge.
The capital's warning threshold is 204.50 meters, while the danger mark stands at 205.33 meters, necessitating evacuations if levels hit 206 meters. Officials say all agencies have been put on alert and are taking precautionary measures.
The situation is attributed to significant water releases from the Wazirabad and Hathnikund barrages, with current discharges recorded at 58,282 and 36,170 cusecs per hour, respectively. Such releases can take 48 to 50 hours to impact the city's river levels, necessitating ongoing vigilance.
