Two individuals have lost their lives in rain-related incidents following intense downpours across Maharashtra's Vidarbha region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Chandrapur, predicting extremely heavy rainfall, and an orange alert for surrounding districts.
The continuous rainfall in Gadchiroli has rendered 12 roads, including two national highways, impassable. Chandrapur reported 68 mm of rainfall on Tuesday, with Bramhapuri receiving 148.5 mm in the past 24 hours. Emergency services are in place as officials continue to monitor the situation.
Residents are advised to remain cautious with thunderstorms and lightning expected. While rainfall intensity is predicted to decrease from August 22, temperatures could drop by up to four degrees. The weather disturbance is related to a shear zone and a depression over south coastal Odisha.
