Incessant heavy rainfall has wreaked havoc across Maharashtra's Thane and Palghar districts, causing chaos and tragedy. In a harrowing incident, a man lost his life after falling into a water-filled quarry in Thane's Navi Mumbai township, officials confirmed.
Floodwaters also inundated the Runde bridge in Kalyan, forcing its closure and redirecting traffic via alternative routes. Meanwhile, a tree collapse at a housing society in the Wagle Estate area posed an additional threat, though no injuries were reported.
In Palghar, extensive flooding prompted quick evacuation efforts, including 194 individuals rescued from inundated areas and the distressing loss of thousands of chickens at a farmer's poultry farm. Authorities remain on high alert for ongoing heavy rains.
