A recent study warns of a 2.3% decline in global emotional well-being by 2100 due to continued global warming. Researchers point out that climate change threatens not only health and economic stability but also daily emotional experiences.

Conducted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the study analyzed 1.2 billion social media posts from 157 countries. It found that temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius significantly worsen emotional well-being, with poorer nations almost three times more affected than wealthier ones.

The researchers emphasize the need for policymakers to understand the emotional impacts of climate change to develop effective adaptation strategies. They recommend integrating emotional well-being into climate policies, using temperature-based warning systems, and targeting support to regions most severely affected.
