The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) sharply criticized the NDA coalition government for the severe waterlogging in Amaravati, citing it as evidence of failed drainage and flood management systems. The critique came amid ongoing issues with waterlogged lands exacerbating regional concerns.
The YSRCP condemned what it termed as 'intimidation tactics,' pointing out legal cases filed against individuals, especially farmers, who have dared to bring these issues to light. The party questioned if speaking out had effectively become a criminal act in the state.
In their statement, YSRCP pointed to a reported 24-meter breach in the Western bypass as a major factor in flooding, urging the government to disclose detailed plans of drainage systems and address the concerns of nearly 28,000 farmers affected by these infrastructural shortcomings.
