The Delhi government has restructured its village development board, appointing BJP MLA Raj Kumar Chauhan as the new chairperson, officials disclosed on Thursday. This move, spearheaded by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is aimed at strengthening infrastructure across the capital's rural and urban villages.
Meeting on August 1, the cabinet decided the reconstitution of the Delhi Village Development Board, which will include nominated members tasked with advising on infrastructure development. The newly appointed chairman, Chauhan, is ready to lead initiatives with a significant budget of Rs 998 crore dedicated to 363 villages in the coming fiscal year.
A seasoned politician, Chauhan also served as a minister under the Congress-led government. His past experience includes heading the development department during the Sheila Dikshit regime. He is now eager to address urgent infrastructural needs, with an emphasis on reviving village ponds, ensuring an effective and sustainable transition towards betterment.
