The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has succeeded in convincing Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to restart the U-Special bus service, easing commuting woes for students. They are now urging for concessional metro passes.
Members of the ABVP-affiliated Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) met with the chief minister to present a memorandum seeking route expansions and enhanced safety measures. The proposed routes include key connections such as Kashmiri Gate to North Campus and other vital links across the city.
The ABVP's advocacy stems from an intent to make student transportation more affordable and to ensure consistent connectivity, especially for campuses less accessible by metro. Their demands also include increased bus frequency, real-time bus tracking, and security presence at bus stops.
