The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted substantial rainfall in north Bengal, particularly intense over the weekend. The adverse weather conditions are attributed to an east-west trough and increased moisture presence.

While north Bengal will see heavy to very heavy rain, south Bengal districts should prepare for moderate yet widespread showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Data from the IMD indicated Jalpaiguri received the bulk of the rainfall at 124.8 mm, Alipurduar was next with 78 mm, trailed by Bagdogra at 53 mm. Continued vigilance is advised, especially in Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar.
