In a dramatic turn of events, Himachal Pradesh has been struck by fresh rain-related incidents, including multiple landslides, that have wreaked havoc on the state's infrastructure and daily life.
One of the most significant incidents occurred near St. Edwards School in Shimla, prompting authorities to close the institution for two days. Meanwhile, a massive landslide near a church in the tourist hotspot of McLeodganj has severed the area from main access routes, causing considerable inconvenience to commuters.
The State Emergency Operation Centre reported extensive damage, with numerous roads closed and essential services disrupted. While Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu praised the quick response of local forces, the monsoon's impact remains severe, contributing to 47 cloudbursts, 98 flash floods, and 148 major landslides since the season's onset.
