Delhi's Green Initiative: Revamping Tree Transplantation Efforts
The Delhi government is enhancing tree transplantation efforts through an EoI for technically qualified agencies. It aims to ensure scientifically and environmentally sustainable transplantation, with a new focus on advanced machinery to improve survival rates. The Delhi government is taking significant steps to improve tree transplantation in the national capital. In a bid to enhance the survival rate of transplanted trees, an Expression of Interest (EoI) has been issued to invite technically qualified agencies capable of executing comprehensive transplantation processes.
The EoI, outlined by the forest department, specifies that selected agencies should handle all aspects of transplantation, from feasibility assessments to post-transplant care. It also imposes an 80% survival rate requirement for transplanted trees. Failing to meet these standards could result in penalties or mandatory corrective actions.
Moreover, the initiative involves a scientific study to assess transplantation success and integrate advanced machinery from abroad. This move aims to reduce transplant shock and improve tree survival, with officials calling for stronger regulatory oversight to ensure compliance and data-driven decision-making for future projects.
