The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday issued a yellow alert, signaling high temperatures across multiple districts in Kerala for the upcoming two days. The state can expect hot and humid weather conditions during this time, the advisory detailed.
According to the weather department, maximum temperatures might soar to 40 degrees Celsius in certain areas of Palakkad district and 39 degrees Celsius in Kollam district, both on Sunday and Monday. Meanwhile, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode districts brace for temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius. Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod might experience up to 37 degrees Celsius, with Thiruvananthapuram expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius.
The IMD explained that these temperatures could be 3 to 4 degrees Celsius higher than usual for these areas. Hot and humid conditions are predicted to dominate the affected districts, except for the hilly regions, through the two-day period, the statement detailed.
