A relentless heatwave is sweeping across Uttar Pradesh, with the India Meteorological Department warning of unyielding temperatures until April 27. The weather authority forecasts thunderstorms and gusty winds beginning April 28, offering some relief.
On Sunday, severe heatwave conditions were reported in both the eastern and western parts of the state. Banda emerged as the hottest place in both the state and India, recording a massive 47.4 degrees Celsius. Prayagraj and Varanasi were also among the hottest areas across the country.
From April 28, a western disturbance is predicted to bring thunderstorms, potentially reducing the heat. Officials caution that weather conditions are likely to normalize by May 2, providing respite from the scorching heat.
