A severe heatwave has gripped vast regions of Uttar Pradesh, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which has predicted sustained hot conditions until April 27.
The state is experiencing high temperatures, with districts such as Banda, Chitrakoot, and Prayagraj recording extreme heat levels. On Sunday, Banda registered a scorching 46.6 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state.
Relief may come from April 28 as thunderstorms are expected to bring cooler conditions. Citizens are advised to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours to mitigate health risks from the heatwave.
