A fire broke out in a cluster of shanties in the Chuharpur Khadar area of Greater Noida on Sunday, destroying eight huts, officials reported. The incident occurred under the Ecotech-1 police station area, with no casualties being confirmed.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar stated that two fire tenders were dispatched to the scene around 5 p.m. after receiving information about the blaze. The fire team managed to extinguish the fire, salvaging approximately 25 to 30 additional shanties from the flames' reach.
Officials indicated that sparks from an electrical pole triggered the fire, which quickly spread across the shanties. Thick plumes of smoke and high flames alarmed the residents, causing panic in the vicinity.
