A series of tiger cub deaths in the Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Madhya Pradesh has sounded alarm bells, with three fatalities reported within just five days, officials confirmed on Sunday.
Madhya Pradesh, which boasts the highest number of tigers in India at 785, has reported 24 tiger deaths, including cubs, since January 7 this year, starting with the first incident in the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
Officials revealed that the most recent cub to be found dead, a female, was discovered on Saturday evening, part of a worrying trend that includes ten tiger deaths since April 2. Conservationists are particularly concerned about the survival of a fourth cub from the litter, given the mother tigress's apparent health issues.
