Kerala is currently grappling with a relentless heatwave, as large swathes of the state swelter under high temperatures and stifling humidity. Many districts are facing extreme conditions, with no significant rainfall to provide respite.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported northern Palakkad as the hottest area, logging temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Other locations like Punalur, Kottayam, and Vellanikkara experienced temperatures close to 37 degrees Celsius, adding to the discomfort.

Despite coastal regions showing slightly lower temperatures, high humidity levels make it feel hotter than recorded. Night-time temperatures haven't offered much relief either, remaining between 26 and 29 degrees Celsius. The IMD indicates rain could bring relief, but citizens may have to endure the sweltering conditions for a few more days.
