The Balrampur district administration has cancelled the allotment of 436 houses under the Manyawar Kanshiram Awas Yojna, meant for poor people, following a verification drive that revealed widespread irregularities, an official said on Tuesday. The crackdown, aimed at ensuring transparency in the government housing scheme, comes after teams of district-level officials conducted a three-phase on-site verification under the directions of the district magistrate. A government spokesperson said the physical verification revealed that 234 allotted houses were found locked, while 202 others were being occupied by unauthorised individuals. Due to these violations of rules and established ineligibility, the administration cancelled the allotment of all 436 units with immediate effect. The list of cancelled allotments has been made public and displayed on the notice boards of the Balrampur Municipal Council, the Sadar Tehsil office, and the Block Development Officer's office. District Magistrate Vipin Jain said on Tuesday that the administration has already initiated the process to re-allot these vacant units to genuine and eligible beneficiaries. ''All 436 cancelled houses will soon be allotted to eligible persons after a fresh selection process. Interested applicants can obtain and submit their application forms between April 30 and May 10,'' Jain said. The application forms will be available at the office of the District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) located in the Collectorate premises. The DM clarified that no applications will be entertained after the May 10 deadline.
