Most parts of Rajasthan are experiencing intense heat, although a slight decrease in maximum temperatures has provided some relief to residents due to easterly winds and cloud cover, the Meteorological Department said on Wednesday. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur reported that Chittorgarh recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 43.4 degrees Celsius during the day. Other major cities also recorded high temperatures: Jaisalmer at 42.6 degrees Celsius, Barmer at 42.0 degrees, Bikaner at 41.4, and Kota and Jodhpur at 41.3 degrees each. Bhilwara and Jaipur both reached 41.0 degrees Celsius. Officials noted that due to easterly winds, cloud cover, and dust storms in several areas, maximum temperatures have dropped by 3-4 degrees Celsius across various parts of the state. ''The maximum temperature in most parts of the state is currently ranging between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius, which is around normal for this time of the season,'' an official said. The department forecast a further drop of 1-2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures over the next one to two days, bringing partial relief from heatwave conditions. It also said that under the influence of a western disturbance and moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph accompanied by thunder are likely at several places over the next three to four days. Light rain or drizzle may also occur at isolated locations. Similar weather, including heatwaves in some areas and thunderstorms with light rain in the afternoons, is expected to continue during the first week of May, the department added.
