Bengaluru Acts to Tackle Risky Structures Amid Post-Storm Cleanup

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar revealed that drastic steps are underway to identify and eliminate dangerous structures and trees throughout Bengaluru. The move is a response to recent rain-induced devastation that has claimed 10 lives, emphasizing the need to improve safety and manage traffic more effectively.

The initiative entails a meticulous survey of ageing buildings and vulnerable trees, seeking to mitigate risks to the public. Officials have earmarked 448 trees for immediate attention, focusing on pruning branches while removing entirely dried-up specimens. A concerted effort is being made to work in conjunction with local police and the urban forestry department.

In unrelated political discussions, Shivakumar dismissed faith in exit polls, expressing trust in his party's grassroots support. He plans on engaging with party members alongside other senior leaders to consolidate political efforts in the region.
