In a tragic incident on Sunday, a fire broke out in a residential building in East Delhi's Vivek Vihar, claiming the lives of nine people, including a toddler. The fire started around 3:48 am, prompting a swift response from police, fire, and disaster management teams.
The blaze, which engulfed several floors of the four-storey building, led to a large-scale rescue operation. Among the victims were members of the Jain family, including Arvind, Anita, Nishant, Anchal, and their grandchild Akash. Another family of three perished on the third floor, along with victim Shikha Jain on the first floor.
Despite efforts to rescue residents, nine charred bodies were recovered, and two injured individuals were taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. The cause of the fire is still being investigated, with authorities continuing to piece together the sequence of events.
