A tragic incident unfolded in Jharkhand's Seraikela-Kharsawan district when a wild elephant trampled a middle-aged man to death on Monday, according to officials.
Seraikela Divisional Forest Officer S A Ansari confirmed to PTI that Muniram Gorai, 50, fell victim to an attack by a wild elephant from a roaming herd. The tragic event prompted local villagers to block KuKru Main Road, demanding justice and recompense for the bereaved family.
The forest department has offered immediate compensation of Rs 50,000, with an additional Rs 3.5 lakh to be issued following administrative procedures. This incident marks the fourth elephant-related fatality in the Chandil forest range this year.
