Hantavirus Outbreak Raises Alarm on Cruise Ship

Concerns have arisen over possible human-to-human hantavirus transmission among close contacts on a cruise ship, as reported by the World Health Organization. The affected vessel has been quarantined in the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Verde.

The organization stated that its immediate focus was the safe evacuation of two ill passengers. Following their evacuation, the ship is expected to resume its course towards the Canary Islands.

Despite the situation aboard the ship, the WHO reassures that the risk to the general public remains low, with ongoing monitoring and precautions in place.
