A devastating incident unfolded on the Yamuna river as a boat tragically capsized, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including four children. Police reported that this unfortunate event occurred when a group was returning from a river island near Kutubpur Patiya.
The boat, carrying nine passengers and not including the boatman, lost balance in the middle of the river and overturned around 7 PM. The boatman, Dheeru, managed to rescue three individuals, while the remaining six, including five children and a woman, went missing. By Thursday, rescue teams had recovered several bodies.
Efforts to locate the missing child continue as adverse weather hampers the search operation. Chief Minister Adityanath has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and instructed that measures be implemented to prevent future occurrences. Local authorities assure that affected families will receive compensation.
