Mississippi Tornado: Devastation But No Fatalities

A series of fierce storms, featuring at least one verified tornado, swept through parts of Mississippi, toppling homes, uprooting trees, and severing power lines, officials reported Thursday. Despite widespread damage across several counties, there were no immediate reports of fatalities or critical injuries.

A mobile home park in the small town of Bogue Chitto, Lincoln County, took a heavy hit. Resident Max Mahaffey recounted, 'I was watching TikTok on my bed and mistook it for thunder. When I returned to my room, it was gone.' Although unharmed, Mahaffey's grandmother sustained an ankle injury and several neighbors suffered minor cuts and bruises.

The National Weather Service identified a 'very large and dangerous tornado' as it moved from Lincoln to Lawrence County. Governor Tate Reeves acknowledged reports of multiple tornadoes across Mississippi, with the state Emergency Management Agency managing the response. More storms may hit Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, weather services predict.
