A dramatic rescue operation unfolded in the Grant Road area of Mumbai on Thursday afternoon after a staircase in a mixed-use building collapsed, leaving 63 individuals stranded. The incident occurred in the Yusuf Building on Kharjeetji Rana Lane.
The structure accommodated both commercial units on the ground floor and residential units above. Notably, the staircase between the ground and first floors collapsed, while a section remained dangerously suspended.
Emergency teams, including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and 108 ambulance service, swiftly arrived at the scene. They successfully rescued all stranded residents, which included 46 men, 12 women, and five children. Caution was exercised in demolishing hazardous sections and securing the vicinity.
