Himachal Pradesh to study Bengaluru's development model to strengthen urban infrastructure

Himachal Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Thursday hailed the Karnataka government's efforts in the urban development sector, emphasising that many of the initiatives could serve as useful models for other states.
Singh visited Bengaluru and met with senior officers of the Urban Development Department, Smart City Mission and Greater Bengaluru Authority to review various urban development initiatives in Karnataka.
During the visit, Singh examined the urban governance and infrastructure models developed through the Greater Bengaluru Authority and Smart City initiatives. He described the work as highly inspiring and among the best examples of planned urban development in the country, a statement issued here said.
He announced that a delegation consisting of officers from Himachal Pradesh's Urban Development Department, Municipal Corporations, and Smart City projects would soon visit Karnataka to study these initiatives in detail, to adopt suitable technologies and urban management practices in their state.
Singh also emphasised the efforts to secure approval for proposals from the Union Government under the Urban Challenge Fund. He highlighted that ongoing projects in Himachal Pradesh would be accelerated to ensure planned and sustainable urban growth.
Earlier, the minister visited spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and held discussions regarding developmental activities and the promotion of social and religious harmony in Himachal Pradesh. He sought his blessings for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state.
