The Delhi government has approved a simplified DJB policy on properties to reduce the water charges, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday.

Gupta said that the changes in the infrastructure charges (IFC) of the Delhi Jal Board will bring transparency in the system and provide relief to the public.

''The IFC for water and sewer will be levied on a water demand basis and only on new development or additional construction within a property,'' Gupta told reporters.

In residential colonies, a rebate of 50 per cent will be given to all properties in E and F category colonies, and a 70 per cent rebate to properties in G and H category colonies, she said.
