NASA has unveiled a comprehensive strategy to establish a permanent base on the moon. Announced by Administrator Jared Isaacman, the $20 billion plan is aimed at facilitating human life on the lunar surface by 2028. The agency's intent is to foster sustainable lunar presence for scientific exploration.

The bold initiative includes several missions, including the selection of Blue Origin's Blue Moon Mark 1 Endurance lander for immediate deployment. Equipment designed to study lunar conditions will be delivered to enhance understanding of the moon's environment, ahead of future crewed Artemis landings. The programme will see gradual construction of infrastructure aimed at supporting continual surface operations starting from 2032.
