Bharat Coking Coal Launches New Facility to Enhance Steel Sector Supply
Bharat Coking Coal Limited begins commercial operation of a new coking coal washery in West Bengal. The facility, crucial for steel production, aims to reduce India's dependence on coal imports. Coinciding with national efforts to boost output, this washery will enhance coal washing capabilities.
Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India, has commenced commercial operations at its advanced Bhojudih coking coal washery in West Bengal, aiming to bolster the domestic steel industry's coking coal supply. This facility has an annual washing capability of two million tonnes.
Launching this washery is strategic, given India's significant coking coal imports. The new facility, leveraging cutting-edge technology like heavy media cyclone and froth flotation, is set to enhance local production and decrease reliance on international sources. BCCL's initiative is part of Coal India's broader plan to establish eight new washeries by FY2030.
