The Tamil Nadu Premier League has been rocked by allegations of ball-tampering against the Dindigul Dragons, led by star cricketer R Ashwin. The accusations come from the Seicham Madurai Panthers, who claim that Dragons tampered with the ball using chemically treated towels during their recent match in Salem.
The TNPL organizers have instructed the Panthers to submit concrete evidence to support what they describe as 'post-facto and speculative' accusations. The controversial match saw the Dragons clinch a victory with Ashwin delivering a remarkable performance with the bat.
The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has since launched an internal inquiry. Panthers CEO Mahesh S has pushed for a deeper probe into the origin of the towels. The TNPL has set a deadline for submission of verifiable evidence by June 17 for further investigation.
