The competition, scheduled to take place at the National Boxing Academy in Rohtak, Haryana, is set to commence this Thursday. Both boys and girls will compete in 13 weight classes, spanning from 44-46 kg to 80+ kg.
The defending champions in the boys' category, the Services Sports Control Board, aim to retain their title, while Haryana will continue their reign in the girls' division. According to Ajay Singh, President-Chairperson of the Boxing Federation of India, this championship serves as a vital platform for showcasing talent to selectors and coaches, aiming to discover future stars for major events like the 2032 & 2036 Olympic Games.
Furthermore, winners are set to compete at the Asian Youth Games for the first time, where boxing is now part of the events. Earlier, young Indian pugilists have demonstrated promising potential, securing a total of 43 medals, including 15 gold, at the recent Asian U-15 & U-17 Championships, reflecting a robust youth development program.
