Wimbledon's Farewell: Petra Kvitova Retires After US Open

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has announced her decision to retire from professional tennis later this year. The Czech superstar revealed her plans on social media, noting that her final tournament would be the US Open this summer.

Kvitova's announcement comes on the heels of receiving a wild card entry for Wimbledon, a stage where she has had significant success, holding precious memories throughout her illustrious career. Though uncertain about her appearances in future U.S. hardcourt events, Kvitova is certain about her curtain call.

Boasting a career-high world ranking of No. 2, Kvitova contributed to six Czech Republic triumphs in the Fed Cup, now the Billie Jean King Cup. She resumed her spot on the WTA Tour in February after a maternity break and currently holds a ranking of 572.
