The Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) launched the emblem and mascot for the New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships on Friday, marking the 100-day countdown. Celebrating strength and resilience, the mascot 'Viraaj,' a spirited young elephant with a blade prosthesis, represents a tribute to optimism and India's rich heritage.
In attendance were Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Vanathi Srinivasan, MLA, and Chief Patron of PCI, as well as actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut and Delhi Minister Ashish Sood. Gupta expressed pride in hosting an event showcasing courage and human potential, emphasizing the capital's commitment to inclusivity and excellence.
Kangana Ranaut, MP, and Brand Ambassador of the Championships, highlighted the mascot as a symbol of strength and resilience, underscoring the event's inspirational message. The unveiling, according to Vanathi Srinivasan, celebrates para athletes and sets the stage for India's historic hosting of participants from over 100 countries this October.
