The 23rd National Junior (U20) Federation Athletics Championships began on Sunday at the Madan Mohan Malaviya Sports Complex in Uttar Pradesh. This annual event has attracted over 959 athletes, including 278 females, set to compete over three days of intense sporting action.

The men's 3000m track race, a highlight of the opening day's schedule, sees more than 40 competitors divided into two groups. The medalists will be determined by their performance in these heats. The women's 3000m race, featuring 22 participants, is also set for Sunday, marking the first medal event of the championships alongside the men's.

In addition to track races, the 100m finals for both men and women promise major excitement. Field events will see medals awarded in the women's discus throw and men's pole vault. Notably, seven athletes from Uttar Pradesh will vie for the pole vault honors.
