Prithvi Shaw, the embattled India batsman, has sought to part ways with his home team, Mumbai, by requesting a No Objection Certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Shaw aims to join a new domestic side seeking greater growth and development as a cricketer.
Although his talent has never been in question, Shaw's off-field disciplinary problems have often overshadowed his on-field performances. On Monday, a senior MCA official confirmed the receipt of Shaw's request, forwarded to the apex council for approval, likely to be decided by evening the same day.
In his letter, Shaw expressed his gratitude towards MCA for ongoing support and opportunities since his debut in 2017. He explained that a promising opportunity under another State Association led to his decision to move, reflecting careful consideration and respect for MCA. Shaw's career has been marred by fitness and discipline criticisms, as remarked by Mumbai's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy-winning captain Shreyas Iyer.
