Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar has publicly expressed his frustration at being overlooked for a national coaching position despite his illustrious career. Kumar has reached out to the NRAI President, urging for his achievements to be recognized and offering his expertise to mentor younger shooters.

Despite his credentials, Kumar has been passed over for coaching roles in favor of candidates with allegedly lesser experience and some with questionable pasts. The NRAI President, Kalikesh Singh Deo, acknowledged Kumar's potential and stated that the selection process was under review.

Kumar, a decorated shooter and awardee of the Khel Ratna, emphasized his commitment to fostering future talent and called for a reassessment of the coaching selections. Kalikesh assured a re-evaluation post the Asian Championships, hinting at Kumar's inclusion in future plans.
