Australian all-rounder Mitchell Owen is on the cusp of making history in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament. With just one more 'Player of the Match' award, Owen will join the esteemed ranks of Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan, tying for the most successive honors in T20 cricket.

Owen earned his fourth consecutive POTM accolade while playing for Washington Freedom against the San Francisco Unicorns by delivering an exceptional 5/17, effectively limiting the opponents to 157/9 in pursuit of 170 runs. Although he faltered with the bat, scoring a first-ball duck, his bowling performance speaks volumes.

In the MLC, Owen stands as the second-highest run-scorer, amassing 288 runs at an average of 41.14 and a strike rate of 210.21 in seven matches. Additionally, he ranks as the second-highest wicket-taker with 14 wickets at an average of 14.35. Owen first rose to prominence with a century for Hobart Hurricanes, leading them to their inaugural Big Bash League title.
