In a significant move to bolster sports development, India has rolled out the Khelo Bharat Niti, an ambitious national sports policy. Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this initiative aims to position India as a sporting powerhouse on the global stage. Backed by five key pillars—excellence, economic and social development, mass participation, and educational integration—the policy is expected to revolutionize the country's sports ecosystem.
Additional cabinet decisions include the approval of the Research Development and Innovation (RDI) scheme, which introduces a substantial Rs. 1 lakh crore fund. This initiative targets emerging sectors and seeks to enhance private sector involvement in research and innovation. Modi described this scheme as a potential game-changer that could realign India's position in global R&D landscapes.
In efforts to spur job creation, the cabinet also greenlit the Employment Linked Incentive scheme, earmarking Rs 1.07 lakh crore to generate 3.5 crore employment opportunities. These measures are instrumental in shaping India's growth trajectory, emphasizing development across various sectors.
