A stellar century by debutant Lhuan-Dre Pretorious and an impressive all-round performance from Corbin Bosch powered South Africa to a commanding 328-run victory over Zimbabwe in the opening Test at Bulawayo on Tuesday. This victory gives South Africa a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

South Africa opted to bat first after winning the toss but faced early challenges as Tanaka Chivanga's wickets left them struggling at 55/4. A vital 95-run counterattack by Dewald Brevis and Lhuan helped steady the Proteas, followed by a pivotal 138-run partnership between Lhuan and Bosch. At just 19 years old, Lhuan became South Africa's youngest centurion with an impressive 153.

Corbin Bosch's century and useful contributions from captain Keshav Maharaj and Codi Yusuf propelled South Africa to 418. Zimbabwe's chase highlighted a 96-run partnership between Craig Ervine and Sean Williams, with Williams scoring a resilient century. However, Zimbabwe trailed by 167 runs, leading to a dominant bowling performance from Wiaan Mulder and Bosch in the second innings, sealing the victory by dismissing Zimbabwe for 208 runs. Lhuan's exceptional debut earned him the 'Player of the Match' award.
