Indian Skeet Shooters Gear Up for Climactic ISSF World Cup Sprint in Italy
India's skeet and trap shooting squads are set for the final leg of the ISSF World Cup at the Trap Concaverde in Lonato, Italy. Prominent Olympians and national representatives vie in various categories, aiming for success ahead of the upcoming World Championships in Athens.

The Indian skeet and trap shooting teams have touched down in Lonato, Italy, ready to compete in the climactic fourth stage of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun series. While the six-member skeet squad has already begun preparations, the trap team, consisting of six members, is slated to arrive by July 5, 2025.
The qualification rounds for both men's and women's skeet events are set to begin on Sunday, culminating with finals on Tuesday. Athletes including Olympians Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Maheshwari Chauhan, and Raiza Dhillon are key players, alongside the accomplished Ganemat Sekhon.
In the men's trap category, Lakshay Sheoran, backed by veteran Zoravar Singh Sandhu and newcomer Jaswinder Singh, leads India's charge. The women's trap features Neeru, Preeti Rajak, and Pragati Dubey. The mixed team trap couples Lakshay and Neeru with Zoravar and Preeti, aiming to build on earlier successes.
Under coach Vikram Chopra, the skeet team is undergoing unofficial training prior to Saturday's official session. Chopra reiterated the importance of preparations aligning before their next target, the World Championships in Athens, as quoted in an NRAI press release.
Lonato, a renowned venue, will witness participation from over 551 athletes representing 73 nations. The full roster of the Indian skeet and trap teams has been announced, with hopes pinned on strong performances as India eyes a fruitful campaign.
