The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Thursday that it is set to host the Asia Cup 2025 at a neutral location, likely Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to informed sources.
The tournament, featuring six teams, will be played in the T20 format, and it is expected that India and Pakistan will be grouped together, as revealed by sources to ANI. India, the reigning champion, had previously refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 edition, prompting Sri Lanka to host the matches involving India.
Earlier instances saw India playing the Champions Trophy matches at a neutral venue in Dubai, after declining to cross into Pakistan. Rumors circulated in May about India's withdrawal from the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup and the Men's Asia Cup due to cross-border tensions. However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed these reports as speculative and unsubstantiated.
