India Assembles Dynamic Squad for World Boxing Championships

India's national boxing squad is gearing up for the World Championships in Liverpool this September, featuring top-tier athletes like Nikhat Zareen and Lovlina Borgohain. The duo, renowned in the boxing arena, qualified for the 20-member lineup following intensive assessments at the National Institute of Sports in Patiala.

The championship, scheduled for September 4-14, is notable as it is the first under the new governance of World Boxing. The event will showcase 10 weight classes for both male and female contenders, a novel move to incorporate an Olympics-style mixed-gender competition, promising an exciting clash for the esteemed title of World Boxing Champion.

Zareen and Borgohain's recent absence at the nationals due to injury and federation issues, respectively, hasn't deterred their return to form. Meanwhile, the men's squad highlights athletes like Narender Berwal and World Cup winners Hitesh Gulia and Abhinash Jamwal, signifying a strong lineup for India.
