Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez faced backlash and fines after making sexist remarks on social media. His statements violated the Mexican Football Federation's gender and diversity policies. Hernandez later expressed regret and commitment to change, following heavy criticism from fans and public figures, including President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has landed in hot water following his controversial remarks on social media, prompting action from the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). On Wednesday, FMF, along with Liga MX and Liga MX Femenil, fined Hernandez for comments deemed sexist, which violated the organization's gender and diversity policies.
The football governing bodies highlighted Hernandez's promotion of sexist stereotypes. While a financial fine and warning have been issued, FMF hinted at potential heavier sanctions if the player persists with similar behavior. In response, Hernandez expressed regret, acknowledging the confusion and discomfort his words may have caused.
Hernandez, Mexico's top goal scorer, recently joined Guadalajara after stints with major European clubs. His statements, which encouraged women to be guided by men and challenged feminist views, sparked widespread criticism across Mexico, including from President Claudia Sheinbaum. Chicharito emphasized a personal commitment to growth and better understanding.
