In a historic moment for English cricket, seasoned batter Joe Root has etched his name into the record books by becoming the first player to accumulate 1000 Test runs at Old Trafford. Root's impressive performance also places him alongside Alastair Cook and Graham Gooch, as players who have achieved 1000-plus Test runs at two different English venues, with Root also achieving this milestone at Lord's.

The record-breaking feat was accomplished during Root's appearance against India in the fourth Test at Old Trafford. Over his 12 matches at this venue, Root has scored 1041 runs, boasting an average of 69.40, including eight half-centuries and a century, with a notable high score of 254. Surpassing cricket legends Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid, Root now ranks as the third-highest run-getter in Test cricket history, having amassed 13,322 runs with 37 centuries in 157 matches at an average of 51.04.

Root's ongoing achievements place him tantalizingly close to overtaking Australian icon Ricky Ponting's score of 13,378 runs, vying for the title of the second-highest run-scorer in Test history, currently held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar with 15,921 runs. As the seventh-highest scorer in the series so far, with 316 runs, Root continues to be an integral part of England's batting lineup, providing pivotal runs in crucial matches, including a current century partnership with Ollie Pope, leaving England within a mere 26 runs of India's first innings total at the Manchester Test.
