In a striking show of talent at the China Open, young Indian shuttler Unnati Hooda's campaign concluded with a loss to world number four Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals, as confirmed by the Badminton Association of India (BAI). Despite her eventual defeat by scores of 16-21, 12-21, the 17-year-old made a bold impression in her debut BWF Super 1000 event.

Hooda became only the fourth Indian woman to achieve a quarterfinal berth in such a prestigious tournament. Her road to the top eight included a stellar win over two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, highlighting the match as a pivotal moment for India's badminton future.

In men's doubles, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty maintained their winning streak, moving into the quarterfinals after defeating the Indonesian pair of Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana. Meanwhile, HS Prannoy ended his run in the men's singles after a closely contested match against World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen.
