England has added all-rounder Jamie Overton to its squad for the crucial fifth Test against India, starting Thursday at The Oval. The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed Overton's inclusion as the team seeks to fortify its lineup after a challenging draw at the previous Test.

In the last match, India's batters, led by impressive centuries from Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar, overturned a hefty 311-run shortfall into a 114-run lead, securing a hard-fought draw and keeping hopes alive for a series split. The prolonged innings took a significant toll on England's pacers, with frustrations manifesting towards the end of the match.

During the match, England initially put India in to bat. Despite facing setbacks, notable half-centuries from Indian players Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, and Rishabh Pant helped India reach 358 runs. England's Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett mounted a solid response, leading to a 311-run advantage, propelled by Joe Root's and Ben Stokes' outstanding performances. Ultimately, India, led by an unyielding partnership from Jadeja and Sundar, thwarted England's victory ambitions, leaving the series poised for an exciting finale at The Oval.
