In a significant statement made in the Lok Sabha, Arvind Sawant (SS-UBT) urged India to reconsider playing cricket with Pakistan given the ongoing political tensions. His comments resonate against the backdrop of the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 scheduled to take place in the UAE.
Sawant highlighted the scenario during past India-Pakistan conflicts, questioning the nation's decision to agree to a ceasefire when it held a stronger position. He advocated for reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, terming it a missed strategic opportunity likening it to the achievements of the 1971 war led by Indira Gandhi.
Criticizing international dynamics, Sawant lamented the lack of support for India during Operation Sindoor, while nations like China and Turkiye rallied behind Pakistan. He also expressed concerns about the IMF's financial aid to Pakistan, despite India's objections.
