Tragedy on the Wrong Floor: NFL Headquarters Shooter Missteps
A gunman, aiming for the NFL headquarters, mistakenly targeted another office building floor, killing four people. Identified as Shane Tamura, the suspect had a history of mental illness and left a note indicating grievances against the NFL related to chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

New York City Mayor Eric Adams revealed that the recent tragic shooting in a Manhattan office building was a case of misdirection. The gunman had intended to target the National Football League's headquarters but took the wrong elevator.
Shane Tamura, believed by investigators to be the gunman, shot multiple individuals in the building's lobby before mistakenly heading to the wrong elevator. The incident claimed four lives, including that of an off-duty NYPD officer.
Authorities disclosed Tamura's mental health struggles and a note found on his body indicating grievances with the NFL and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. His past included playing high school football in California nearly 20 years ago, and the note called for his brain to be studied posthumously.
