Security Manager Arrested in IPL Jersey Theft Scandal

A 43-year-old security manager employed at Wankhede Stadium has been arrested for allegedly pilfering 261 Indian Premier League (IPL) jerseys, valued at Rs 6.52 lakh, from the BCCI's store, according to police statements on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Farooque Aslam Khan, hailing from Mira Road, reportedly carried out the theft on June 13 and managed to sell numerous jerseys online. The crime was unraveled during a routine inventory audit by BCCI officials, who subsequently lodged a complaint at the Marine Drive Police Station on July 17.
Authorities have successfully retrieved 50 jerseys and are pressing forward with the investigation. The items were originally intended for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Many of the garments had already been sold to a dealer in Haryana prior to Khan's arrest, police officials revealed.
