French sporting goods giant Decathlon is set to amplify its sourcing from India, aiming to reach USD 3 billion by 2030. An increased focus on high-potential categories like footwear, fitness equipment, and technical textiles is driving this strategic shift.
Frederic Merlevede, Decathlon Production Head, highlighted that India currently accounts for 8% of the brand's global sourcing, with plans to ramp up to 15% within the next seven years. This expansion will tap into India's manufacturing capabilities for both domestic and international markets.
With an anticipated EU-India free trade agreement, Decathlon sees potential for further growth in exports, particularly as duties decrease on certain product categories. Investments from local partners are also expected to bolster Decathlon's presence in the Indian market, reflecting a strong commitment to quality and innovation.
